A bag of surprises

Last Updated 22 May 2015, 17:27 IST

The Black Rabbit’, a restaurant located in the bustling Indiranagar, is sure to conjure up a number of surprises at the drop of a hat. The place sees a crowd comprising families and children till 7 pm, after which, it turns into a bar. “Children are not allowed in the restaurant after 7 pm. Our customers in the evening are mainly above the age of 25,” explains Dev Mehta, the General Manager for food and beverage.

He adds that the space also turns to a party lounge every Friday and Saturday night as they have an in-house DJ who throws in interesting mixes; from rock to club music. The menu is fine-dining while the seating arrangements are casual, the cuisine is a mix of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, more of the latter.

The name ‘The Black Rabbit’, in fact, attracts more customers. Starting with a small idea, this eating place was conceptualised over a period of two years. ‘The Black Rabbit’ opened last year with much to choose from. There is the deliciously cheesy burgers, bacon and cheese balls and cuisines centred around mushrooms. They also have special cuisines on board every month.

The appetisers have global influences — Asian and European.
People dig into spring rolls and salads, deli sandwiches and quesadillas. ‘Baked Asian duck cocktail samosas’, ‘Potato served two ways’, ‘Shaved roast beef kaiser roll’, grilled vegetarian lasagne, pumpkin and chestnut risotto are some of the unique dishes to try out. Desserts include key lime pie and carrot cake which will set anyone into a sugar rush.

The spare decor, quirky art on the lights and high-octane energy brings in a fuzzy aura to the place. “The place attracts a good crowd. The name was unanimously decided by the owners. In the UK, a lot of restaurants have many weird names and the owners wanted to try out something funky here too. The name is also easy to remember. It worked,” says Dev.
The Black Rabbit is located on 770, 100 Feet Road,
Indiranagar. For details, call 42415575.
