Government land worth Rs 550 crore reclaimed

The Bengaluru Urban district authorities intensified their anti-encroachment drive across the city and recovered government land worth Rs 550 crore.

The authorities took possession of the building of Islamia Institute of Technology on Bannerghatta Road near Meenakshi Temple, an apartment and a resort in Elenahalli in Bengaluru South taluk. “There were four bakeries and Islamia College on five acres of government land. We demolished the bakeries and took possession of the college,” said Bengaluru South Tahsildar S M Shivakumar.

The officials also took possession of a resort with a mango grove on ten acres of land in Elenahalli in Bengaluru South taluk. Deputy Commissioner V Shankar, said a few apartments near the resort are on government land. These properties will be taken into possession.

In Kanaminike village under Kengeri hobli, two people had encroached upon 22 acres and 12 guntas of land and were carrying out agricultural activities. The district authorities took possession of the land.

In Bengaluru East taluk, Adarsh Developers had encroached on 23 guntas of lake land in survey number 13 of Hadosiddapura village in Varthur hobli. There was encroachment of half an acre of a lake in Sheegehalli by Venkat Naidu, which was also recovered.

“In total, we took possession of 2 acres and 30 guntas of land, which is worth Rs 80 crore,” said Bengaluru East Tahsildar Tejas Kumar.
