The Bengaluru Urban district authorities on Monday took possession of three acres and 23 guntas of land at Pattandur Agrahara village in KR Puram Hobli of Bengaluru East Taluk on which the Prestige Developers had come up with a huge residential project comprising some 100 flats in two apartments and four luxury villas.

The multi-storey apartments are nearing completion while final touches are being given to the luxury villas, which are said to have private swimming pools.

Sources in the district administration said the residential project had come up on survey number 42 of the Pattandur Agrahara village. It was allotted to the Joy Ice Cream at 50 pc concessional rate to promote entrepreneurship and business. But, the firm sold the land to Prestige Developers violating the terms and condition of land allotment.

A few days ago, the entire land was surveyed by the Deputy Director of Land Records, Raja Naik, assistant director of Land Records Manjunath and surveyors.

On Monday, the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban V Shankar along with the Additional Commissioner Venkatachalapathi, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Babu and the Tahsildar of Bengaluru East Taluk Dr B R Harish Naik swooped down at Pattandur Agrahara and took possession of the entire complex.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Shankar said that the building would be handed over to the Public Works Department for public purposes.

A huge tract of ‘B’ kharab land has also been encroached upon, the officer said. A senior officer requesting anonymity said that the district administration may recommend the State government to allot the flats to those citizens who lost their houses during the recent drive to rid the tank beds from encroachment.

Campus taken over
The Impact College of Engineering suffered the impact of the ongoing anti-encroachment drive when the district authorities took its huge campus spread in the sprawling eight acres of land into their custody. The key of the college building will be handed over to the Higher Education Department on Tuesday, said sources in the district administration. The value of the campus is Rs 150 crore.

In Bengaluru South Taluk, public properties worth Rs 42 crore were reclaimed while in North Taluk, 92 acres of land, whose market value is at least Rs 300 crore was reclaimed.
