The day one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first year in office was exhaustive on Tuesday. Modi interacted with officers of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), called on President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari, launched a Kisan Channel and landed up at the BJP headquarters in the evening to greet employees to mark the first anniversary of his government.

In two different tweets, Modi posted his photographs with President and Vice President and his wife. “Had a wonderful meeting with Vice President Shri Hamid Ansari,” he posted.

Earlier, he had detailed interaction with the staff of his South Block office, starting from class four employees to senior officers such as Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra, and Additional Principal Secretary P K Mishra. He also appreciated “Team PMO” for  the hard work and dedication with which they are performing their duties.

“He was given an overview of the various reforms and changes that have been initiated in the PMO over the last one year, under his leadership and guidance,” said the PMO in a statement.
Hinting that the bureaucracy is working in his dispensation, Modi said his experience was that “government functionaries and the common man, think alike, and if given the right atmosphere, the government machinery can deliver results for the common man.”

After launching a channel dedicated to farmers, Modi reached Ashok Road BJP headquarters for a live televised interaction with party employees at a conference hall. Modi, who has spent his early years as an office bearer, could identify names and faces of drivers, in printing section, and among general staff.

After some light-hearted moments where the PM shared anecdotes from his early days in the BJP, party workers lined up behind him to take pictures. BJP chief Amit Shah and general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal shared the dais with Modi.

A meeting with some leaders followed at the party office with Amit Shah by his side before he was driven back to his 7 Race Course Road residence.
