JOIN USThese are not easy days for students. While some of the youngsters are either delighted or coming to terms with their exam results, others are awaiting it with bated breath.
Not to forget those who are preparing for entrance exams or looking forward to admissions in colleges.Whatever it may be, there is competition and pressure. Fortunately, today’s generation has its own way of handling it.With the right amount of confidence and sound support, they feel, they can achieve whatever they have set their mind on. Some of the students talk about how they deal with these challenges.
The right attitude
Nydile, a student of second-year Interior Design, Mount Carmel College, says, “I took up science in class 12 and thoroughly enjoyed learning the subject. Therefore, I didn’t really feel any kind of pressure or stress. I was capable of handling competition because I had plenty of support from my parents. They stood by me like a rock and continue to do so even to this day. And one good thing is that my parents never made any comparisons between me and other children.”
A thought apart
Alisha Deshmukh, a student of class 12, Christ Junior College is candid when she says, “I hope to write the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) this year and I have started working towards it. While the education system in India is oriented towards academics and gives less room for students to pursue extra-curricular activities, the universities abroad strike the right balance between academics and extra-curricular activities.”
A noteworthy effort
Aditya Sharma, a class 12 Commerce student of CMR National Public School, informs, “This year is extremely crucial for me because I am in class 12 and I will be writing a couple of entrance exams by the end of the year. I am also going for coaching classes because they are, certainly, of some help. However, I would rather rely on the notes that are given in school and the additional references that I do on my own than completely relying on coaching centres. The school coaches us to be all-rounders.”
Freedom of choice
Anam Pasha, a student of final-year BBM, Mount Carmel College, has an interesting view. “I have never had any kind of pressure to score a certain amount of marks or choose a particular stream. My parents have given me the complete freedom to pursue any career of my choice. This is also the reason why I have never written any entrance exam till date. I don’t know what it is like to prepare for a competitive exam.”
