Two head constables attached to Old Airport Police Station were suspended on Wednesday for playing cards after they were videographed by some unknown persons a couple of years ago.

According to police, Sadashivappa and Dhananjay, both head constables, were suspended after a Kannada news channel aired the video clipping which showed the constables playing cards in uniform.

A police officer said: “The issue was brought to our notice and we have taken action against the constables and have suspended them. It is learnt that the video clipping was taken a couple of years ago. The clipping showed that both the constables were in uniform and were playing cards in a shed meant for cab drivers, located near HAL Airport. But we are examining the footage to ascertain when exactly it was shot.”

“We will conduct an inquiry to ascertain if they were gambling or playing for leisure. But they are suspended as they were playing cards in police uniform,” added the officer.
