Days after Rahul Gandhi accused the Centre of taking revenge on Amethi by scrapping the food park project, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday lashed out at the Modi government for “revenge politics”.
Gandhi, on a day-long visit to her Lok Sabha constituency of Raebareli, slammed the Centre for not providing adequate funds for road construction in Raebareli under the Prime Minister’s rural road scheme.
Officials told the Congress president, who took part in the district monitoring committee meeting, that the Centre has reduced funds under the scheme.
District officials present at the meeting said Gandhi expressed anguish over the reduction of funds. The meeting also adopted a resolution accusing the Centre of discriminating against Raebareli.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi distributed cheques to victims of the Bacharwana train mishap and relief funds to rain-hit farmers at Didiya Ghat in the constituency. The Congress chief also held a meeting with party functionaries to discussed ways of reviving grassroot level support.
