A woman employee of a store on MG Road chased a man, caught him and thrashed him for flashing at her and making obscene gestures on Tuesday afternoon.

The man was handed over to the Cubbon Park police. He has been identified as Moses, 38, a resident of Neelasandra. He is a painter by profession and is married. His wife is a homemaker and they have three daughters.

A police officer told Deccan Herald, “The woman and a few others thrashed him for flashing at the victim and called the police. We rushed to the spot and arrested him, based on a complaint filed by the victim. He has been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman.”

According to the police, the suspect claimed to be innocent. The police believe he is psychologically disturbed and will seek medical opinion on his mental health.Moses went near a store on Tuesday afternoon and kept staring at the victim. He made obscene gestures at her, while she ignored him. A while later, he unzipped his trousers and flashed at her. The woman lost her cool and rushed outside to catch him. Moses tried to run away, said the police.“Initially, we did not understand what was happening as the two started running all of a sudden,” Sumedh, who witnessed the incident, told Deccan Herald.

The woman caught him and slapped him repeatedly. She kept beating him and soon a few persons gathered around them. On realising his acts, they too joined her and thrashed him. They called the patrolling policemen and handed him over to them, said the police.

The police said Moses would often be on MG Road and had indulged in similar acts in the past. He would stare at women and make disgusting comments. In the past few days, he would stand in front of a store, stare at the victim and indulge in similar acts, said the police.
