Pakistan Kabbadi federation scraps India tour

Karachi, Jan 21 (PTI):

The Pakistan Kabbadi Federation has decided to drop their scheduled tour to India in protest against the treatment meted out to the country's cricketers during the third Indian Premier League auction.

The Kabbadi federation said it has taken the decision not to send its team for the five Kabbadi matches to show solidarity with the wave of resentment in the country over the way the IPL organisers and franchises had humiliated the Pakistani cricketers at the auction.
"The government didn't give us any instructions because we had not approached them for clearance as yet. This is a decision we took ourselves at federation level because we feel bad for the way the Indians treated our players," Muhammad Sarwar, the secretary of the Pakistan Kabbadi federation told PTI.
Sarwar said while the federation was still awaiting for security clearance from the Indian side it had decided to drop the tour.
"We were supposed to hold matches in Amritsar, Jullander, New Delhi, Chandigarh from January 26th," he said.
Kabbadi is a very popular sport in the rural towns and areas of Pakistan and India with a strong history of competition between the two neighboring countries.
Sarwar said there was a need for the Pakistan sports fraternity to support its cricketers and send out a clear message to the IPL and Indian government.
