Show on Shivaji to be held in London on June 20, 21

A spectacular live show on Chhatrapati Shivaji, 'Jaanta Raja' is being organised in London on June 20 and 21.

The show has been supported by Gujarat Tourism and Bank of Baroda and the funds raised will be used to construct 'Shiva Shrusthi' at Pune, which will be the single source of information on life and times of Shivaji and a tourist attraction for its features, sources in the government said.

One of the major attractions of the show in Hindi being organised at at SSE Arena Wembley, London, is the 55 feet high revolving stage and stature of Goddess Bhawani Maata.

The live show, an epic drama on life and times of the Chhatrapati, offers glimplses of young Shivaji, his formative period as a warrior, his ascension to power, his fights with enemies, his love for loyal fellow-men, his tactical victories over the mighty Mughals, his dramatic escape from the clutches of Aurangzeb and his grand coronation ceremony.

Sources said the epic drama will be helpful in making the new generation aware of the qualitiies of Shivaji, how he conducted himself as leader of men, how he cared for his population, how he respected women in his empire, his respect and love for his mother and the way he handled all foreign powers surrounding him.

'Jaanta Raja' offers the people of Europe an opportunity to witness this bygone era in form of a life-size depiction.

The play has been shown more than a thousand times in India and has catered to an audience of more than 15 million people.
