'50 anganwadis in C'magalur may be closed due to lack of children'

   
Meanwhile, Block Education Officer (BEO) Nagesh informed that a total of 13 government schools including Vajuvalli, Paradeshappanamata, Chikkalla and Kalasapura were closed due to students’ shortage. Nearly 9 more schools will also be closed soon, he added.

The department is distributing travel allowance of Rs 300 each per month to those students who were shifted to other schools, Nagesh informed. Steps will be taken to admit students in Ashrama Schools if necessary, he added.

He said that text books and uniforms were distributed to students properly in the taluk. No complaints have been raised with regard to the supply of text books and uniforms, he said and added that the government schools in the taluk have excelled in SSLC examination.

Taluk Panchayat member Shridevi Kumaraswamy brought to president’s notice that some teachers are engaged in forging the attendance book. She said that those teachers sign the attendance register even if they are on holidays.

BEO said that irregularities in schools will be monitored by the department strictly.

He said that action will also be taken against those teachers who do not follow punctuality.

Responding to members complaints of teachers using mobile inside the classrooms, Nagesh said that circulars will be sent to all school heads to ban mobile usage inside the classroom.

He said that the department has already prepared list of teachers whose performance were not satisfactory, for transfers as per government order. Zilla Panchayat Assistant Executive Engineer Narayana Mallya said that Rs 25 lakh has been sanctioned for the implementation of drinking water scheme in 3 taluks.

Directions to develop 24 ponds at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh each has been issued under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) by the government, he added.

Facilities in hospitals

Taluk Medical Officer informed in the meeting that a doctor who joined the Siravase Public Health Centre has resigned the job after serving for a month. Meanwhile, member Sadashivachar warned that a protest will be organised if doctors were not appointed immediately.
