JOIN USA 24-year-old pregnant woman, who was pushed down by her husband during a fight, died of stomach injuries at Bowring Hospital on Thursday night.
Sophia was married to Harish, a labourer, and the couple were residing at Idayat Nagar in KG Halli. Sophia was two-and-a-half months pregnant.
On May 24, the couple fought over some issue and in the melee, Harish pushed her. Sophia fell down and suffered from stomach injuries. They thought it was a minor injury and ignored it.
On June 12, she developed acute pain in the stomach and was admitted to Bowring Hospital where she failed to respond to treatment and succumbed to her injuries.
Sophia’s mother approached the police and filed a dowry harassment complaint against Harish. She told the police that Harish was constantly torturing Sophia to get dowry and also suspected her of infidelity.
He used to abuse her physically and mentally, said the police. The KG Halli police booked Harish for dowry harassment and arrested him.
