Art and soul of the party

Dream themes

Who doesn’t like to throw a party? And if you like to organise a pretty fairy tale or wanderlust theme-based party, then meet ‘Confetti’, a venture started by Pooja Haria, which will help you create the perfect personalised theme party. You express your idea of an ideal party and they’ll turn it into reality.

Pooja started this venture three years ago out of her passion for art and craft. You can find beautiful decor items, photo booth props, plan a birthday party or a baby shower, order a customised gift and even organise a photoshoot. ‘Confetti’ believes in individuality and expression and Pooja strives hard to deliver personalised products to her customers as it brings out the distinct identity of the person. “Everyone has a different outlook to life and we are here to provide customers with the physical means to express themselves. We ensure that all our products and services are tailored to represent them. From fun party decorations to contemporary home decor, simple craft workshops to elegant artworks, we custom-make most of our products to match their taste and preference,”

After quitting her busy job as an assistant manager in a branding company, Pooja decided to start her own venture. What is interesting is that Pooja was never keen on art and craft  and never paid attention to it. After a backpack trip to Berlin she was extremely influenced by the graffiti on the Berlin Wall. Taking inspiration from that, she decided to draw and sketch on different canvases like fabric and cardboard, make greeting cards and ‘diyas’ for her circle of friends and this slowly grew in to a venture. “The Berlin trip inspired me a lot and I decided I also wanted to contribute to the field of art in my own way. I started sketching and making customised products for my friends. They really liked it and wanted me to do more, and this motivated me and led me to start the venture,” she says.

Pooja has mastered the art of decoupage, a technique of decorating objects with paper cut-outs.
All her products are  handmade and custom-made, which express the taste and personality of the customer. Her business has grown leaps and bounds mainly because of a customers recommendation or word-to-word marketing, but she also takes online orders.
“Event planning is picking up like never before. People have a lot of ideas but lack the time to plan a party, hence they hire planners to organise an event. I, as a planner, make their dreams come true and their special day a memorable and fruitful one.”
But quitting her comfortable job was not an easy choice. Pooja has had to struggle her way up to make ‘Confetti’ her full-time job.
“Party planners are not taken very seriously. Reaching out to people about my craft and making ends meet was the biggest challenge. I had to freelance as a content writer to raise funds to invest into my business. There was a point when I wanted to just give up, but the support from my friends and family kept me going,” she says.

Three years down the line, Pooja is a proud crafter and planner.
“I’m very happy that I can now make a sustainable living from my venture. ‘Converting the intangible into tangible keeps me excited,” adds Pooja.
