Homosexual marriage is 'perverted culture'

“It is the duty of every lawyer to make India corruption-free by adopting zero tolerance towards corrupt people,” said Chairman of the Karnataka Bar Council P P Hegde.

Addressing fresh law graduates at JSS Law College, during its eighth graduation day, here, on Tuesday. he said, countries without corruption have become superpowers and so, India should strive to bring back all the black money stocked in foreign countries.

The judiciary in Karnataka is strong with the best officers, but one or two of them, who are tainted with corruption, are spoiling its reputation. “Initially, I was hesitant to attend this function because one such official was supposed to be the chief guest. But now, I feel lucky to be delivering the valedictory address,” he informed.

Referring to terrorism and Naxalism, Hegde said, violence cannot bring peace and these acts should not be a part of an enlightened society. “India has never attacked its neighbours but has always won their hearts with peace. As lawyers, you should work to attain peace among people and fight injustice, because you will be the leaders of the society,” he said.

He later advised the to-be lawyers not to get carried away by the notion of ‘liberal culture’. He condemned homosexual marriage and pre-marital parenthood by calling them a part of ‘perverted culture’, which will perish in the long run.

He also requested the graduates not to work for MNCs which take away the independence of a lawyer.

The toppers are Preethi L Malavalli (BBA LLB), Albert Mhina (BA LLB), Razia Sultana S (LLB) and Prathibha B S (LLM).

Seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami, executive secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha B N Betkerur, Registrar of Karnataka Administrative Tribunal M Mahadevaiah, Chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission Manjula Manasa and other were present.
