Biju sets up RWF's facile win

An all-round performance from Biju BY ensured that Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) trounced SBM Jain University 5-1 in the KSHA Super Division Hockey League Championship at the hockey stadium here on Tuesday.

Biju was too good for the Jain University defenders, scoring two and setting up one goal.
RWF opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Biju made a fine run from the left flank and passed to Jayaraj, who finished with a simple tap-in.

Biju then got on to the scoresheet in the 10th minute with a reverse hit from just outside the area as his team doubled its lead.

Jain University found it hard to get out of their own half, with the best chance coming from a penalty corner in the 19th minute.

At half-time, RWF had held on to its 2-0 lead with ease with goalkeeper Umesh KR remaining a mere spectator.

Jain University came out with more purpose in the second half, creating plenty of chances but failed to find the final touch. The best chance came in the 43rd minute as Raghuram RT sent an inviting cross but the ball skidded across the face of goal harmlessly.

However, the floodgates opened in the 44th minute as RWF put the game to rest with three goals in eight minutes.

Kusha scored the first of those with a fine hit from the edge of the circle that found the board through a crowded D Deepak Bijawad scored in the 45th minute via a penalty corner and Biju completed the rout with his second goal in the 51st minute.

Jain University did manage to find a consolation goal in the 59th minute with Nambi Ganesh scoring from a penalty corner.
