Former India pacemen Venkatesh Prasad and David Johnson and left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi, who were picked up by the All Stars team for the fourth season of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), say they are excited to be back in action again.

“I did not expect this at all. When captain Sudeep came to me with an offer of playing in the KPL, it was a big surprise to me,” said Prasad, addressing a press conference at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) here on Friday.

“I am not sure if I can live up to the expectations of my team. It has been more than ten years since I last played. But I will work hard to get my fitness right before the start of the tournament,” said Prasad.

Joshi heaped praise on the emerging talent in Karnataka and said that he was looking forward to play in Hubballi. “KPL is a great platform for youngsters to exhibit their skills. Players from rural areas of the State are highly talented and they must make the most out of the tournament.

“I have wonderful memories as a player in Hubballi and Mysuru and I am eager to get back on to the field,” said Joshi.

Johnson confessed that playing cricket is the only thing he knows and promised his complete support to his team. “I love playing the game. Since we former players are returning after a long time, we are a bit rusty but we promise a good show for our team.”  Skipper Sudeep felt it was a great opportunity for cine stars to play alongside yesteryear cricketers. “This time, with retired cricketers, it is our attempt to make the side complete and approach the event in a lot more serious fashion,” Sudeep said.
