'Harassed' government employee ends life

 An employee of the Muzrai department committed suicide by hanging himself at a lodge in New Tarugupet Central police limits on Friday morning.

The deceased, Mahesh, 35, a resident of Banashankari, was employed as a manager at a Kalyana Mantapa in KR Road and was also working with the Muzrai department.

On Thursday evening, he checked into the lodge in Central police limits and hung himself from the ceiling. The incident came to light on Friday morning, when the room boy went to clean the room and there was no response. the room boy peeped through the window only to find him hanging from the ceiling, the police said. The police shifted the body for post-mortem and informed his family members. A death note was also found.

Threatened

The police suspect that Mahesh was harassed by four persons - Jaganath, an employee of Muzrai department, Krishnamurthy, Manjunath and Narayana Murthy- who were reportedly harassing him to pay them some money, failing which, they threatened to complain to the higher authorities of his ‘ill-doings’, said the police.

Further, a woman employee was also recently fired after Mahesh complained against her. The relatives of the woman were also said to be harassing Mahesh, added the police.

A case of abetment to suicide has been registered at the Central police station and the police are looking out for the four persons who threatened him. The four are currently absconding.
