Not so lovable

I Love NY
Hindi (U) ¬
Director: Radhika Rao,
Vinay Sapru
Cast: Sunny Deol, Kangna
Ranaut

The face-punching, pump-uprooting action hero Sunny paaji, turns into a mushy ball of romance in I Love NY, as he tries to woo the Queen B (Kangana). It all begins on New Year’s Eve, when the two strangers (Kangna and Deol) cross each other’s path. Boy gets drunk on New Year’s Eve, wakes up in a stranger’s apartment, which happens to be the heroine (well by accident of course!). What unfolds is a lot of self-staged drama, attempt at comedy, and some very boring song sequences. Yes, that entire predictable attempt at making a romantic-comedy fails miserably.

The lead pair lack any kind of chemistry and fail to click together in this comedy of errors. Kangana has probably sent herself down the drain with this choice of film, especially after enjoying a stint of success and making a name for herself in Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Queen. Sunny Deol, on the other hand, should stick to beating up men instead of trying his hand at romance.

The comedy is so predictable that it hits you in the face after a certain point. And at that unbearable point, you want to take more loo breaks than sit in front of the screen.

If you’re looking for some brainless comedy or a mushy tear-jerking film, go ahead. If not, stay away.
