<p> The Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association felicitated its rowers who won the overall championship at the 18th sub-junior and 19th Challenger Sprint Rowing Championships at the Trishna Club on Saturday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Among the felicitated was Keerthana TK, who also won the bronze medal at the Asian Junior Rowing Championships held in Wuhan, China, last week.<br /><br />Keerthana, who trains at the Trishna Club that is a part of MEG, represented the country in the coxless crew event. She has represented the state in single scull events.<br /><br />While she has always been a keen athlete, Keerthana moved to rowing in 2012 and has bagged a host of national and international awards.<br /><br />Speaking at the felicitation, she said, “Rowing has a lot of adrenaline and is a very daring sport. That is what makes it attractive and challenging.”<br /><br />The individuals that were felicitated were part of the sub-junior category and for a lot of them, balancing academics and rowing is a hard task. “I believe that it is possible to excel at both,” said Keerthana, a bronze medallist at the Asain junior meet. <br /><br />Winning the overall championship was a moment of pride for the association but secretary G Somasekharappa believes that unless there is a larger established club, rowing will not grow among civilians.</p>
