Two-day Sangama Sambhrama convention from July 25

 Kannada and Culture Department in association with 13 academies, two authorities, one study centre and DK district administration will organise a two-day State convention ‘Sangama Sambhrama,’ at Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama from July 25.

Briefing reporters here on Wednesday, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president B A Mohammed Haneef said the programmes will be held under the theme ‘varthamanada thallanagalu- samskrithika prathikriye.’

The diversity in Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Beary, Kodava, Urdu, Arebhashe languages will be celebrated with the culture of the land.

Prior to the inauguration, a procession of cultural troupes from Vamanjoor to Pilikula will be held. The procession will be flagged off by Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred. The ‘Sangama Sambhrama’ will be inaugurated by Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashree while Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports Abhayachandra Jain, will preside.

Logo unveiling

Former Union Minister M Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the programme, Minister for Forest will unveil the logo while Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake will inaugurate the lalithakala pradarshana and Minister for Health U T Khader will inaugurate exhibition of sculptures.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate book stalls. A classical music by Balasubrahmanyam will be held after the inauguration. Minister Umashree and Kannada and Culture department Director Dayanand K A will interact with Presidents of all the 13 academies, two authorities and one study centre on the occasion.

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castellino said the Karnataka Kodava, Konkani, Arebhashe, Tulu and Beary academies will host series of programmes. Sangeetha Nritya Academy will organise a musical dance ballet — Nisarga Vijaya at 6 pm. Karnataka Janapada Academy will organise ‘dollina pada,’ ‘Moharam pada,’ ‘tatva pada’ at 6.30 pm.

Nataka Academy will sponsor a play — ‘Raavi nadi dandeyalli’ at 7.30 pm.

Katha ranga
On July 26, the programme will commence with Gazal programme by Urdu Academy at 9.30 am.

Kannada Sahitya Academy will organise ‘Katha ranga,’ while Yakshagana Academy will organise Thogalu Gombeyata on the theme ‘Sri Krishna Parijatha’ and Yakshagana Suvarna Shalini.’

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President Janaki Brahmavar said that as a preparatory to the two-day event, three-day painting and sculpture camp will be held from July 22 to 24. Around 20 sculptors from across the state will create sculptures during the camp and will be exhibited at the venue.

The Tulu Sahitya Academy will organise ‘Tulu Aisiri’ highlighting the culture of Tulunadu on July 24 at 3.30 pm while Konkani Academy will organise ‘Konkani sambhram’ at 4.30 pm. The translated work on life of poet Kanakadasa in Tulu, Konkani and Beary languages will be released at 5.30 pm. The Beary Sahitya Academy will organise ‘Pernal Sandol’ to highlight the Beary culture.

She said stalls will be set up at Pilikula Nisaragadhama to sell traditional mouth watering dishes, ornamental, decorative pieces, saplings, Ayurveda products, Khadi and village industries produce, and others.
