A bouquet of acclaimed films

The ‘Kasaravalli Film Festival’ will be held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road, from July 25 to 29. It is a retrospective of the internationally-acclaimed Kannada filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli’s films.

During the festival, 10 films and a documentary directed by the Padma Shri awardee will be showcased. The film director, who is a pioneer and ardent practitioner of the parallel cinema movement, will be seen at his best through a series of his movies.

The festival will be inaugurated by the Minister for Kannada and Culture Department Umashree. In addition  to screening of the films — ‘Gulabi Talkies’, ‘Naayi Neralu’ and ‘Kraurya’ on July 25; ‘Thaayi Saaheba’ and ‘Ghata Shraaddha’ on July 26; ‘Thabarana Kathe’ and ‘Dweepa’ on July 27; ‘Kanasemba Kudureyaneri’ and ‘Haseena’ on July 28 and ‘Koormaavathaara’ and ‘A Journey Into the Imagery of Adoor Gopalakrishnan’ on July 29 — there will be discussions on each of the days by writers and film critics. A photo exhibition of Kasaravalli’s film making is another value addition to the event. Entry is free.
