<p>An RTI activist has complained to the Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department that the action taken by the University of Mysore (UoM) against the professors of Bahadur Institute of Management Studies (BIMS) for illegalities is inadequate.</p>.<p><br />Illegal earning<br /><br />The university’s Syndicate, on January 31, 2015, ruled that it has been proved that four professors of BIMS have illegally earned money by participating in the evaluation in other universities and institutions and hence the amount be recovered in 10 equal installments from their salary. <br /><br />Hence, the UoM has been recovering Rs 14,636 from S J Manjunath’s salary, Rs 9,973 from Aisha M Sharif’s salary, Rs 9,057 from R Mahesh’s salary and Rs 8,972 from D Anand’s salary since the month of May. Another professor, B Shivaraj, avoided the probe by bringing a stay against the department probe on August 12, 2014.<br /><br />Act of cheating<br /><br />In the complaint, R N Sathyanarayana has stated that the professors have cheated the UoM, UGC and the State government as they have participated in the evaluation work outside the university illegally. <br /><br />“They have also signed in the BIMS register after the issue came to light, because they had drawn the salary from the UoM even for the days when they were out of the institution. So, the government should also recover their salary for the duration of their absence and initiate further action as per the Karnataka Civil Services Rules,” he has said in the complaint. <br /><br />He has also complained against the UoM for not taking any steps to vacate the stay brought by Prof Shivaraj since 11 months.<br /></p>
