Amalgamation
Last Updated 29 July 2015, 18:34 IST

The Art Heritage Gallery at the Triveni Kala Sangam is currently hosting a group exhibition titled ‘Encounters’. Featuring artists K G Subramanyan, Kavita Jaiswal, Anand Prakash, Madan Som Parmar and Pallav Chander, the exhibition is an amalgamation of arts and artwork ranging from a vast span of time.

To start with, artist K G Subramanyan is among the few artists who have explored the possibilities of modern art from a different perspective. He gives new dimensions to the human figure by making them appear more as characters from various myths and traditional narratives, populating a composition quite the contrary.

As an artist, he is extraordinarily versatile. He cherishes the facility to work in diverse media, sizes, and techniques over a stylistic conformity to a single medium, genre, size, technique, and manner of visualisation.

Juxtaposing his works are artist Anand Prakash’s hues and textures. Hailing from Allahabad, Prakash is the youngest artist of the lot, and possesses a strong love for lines and colours. He leaves his creations open to interpretation by the viewers.Moving on to artist Kavita Jaiswal whose artworks are aptly titled ‘The Full Space’. They speak about infinite possibilities, configurations and choices that one possesses in a lifetime.

The most touching of all were late artist Madan Som Parmar’s artworks. A famed printer from Baroda, Parmar created simplistic and subtle designs. He died at the young age of 39.

Last but not the least, the exhibition also features Pallav Chander’s artworks. An upcoming artist who has had a few solo exhibitions in 2014, Chander lives and breathes art ever since childhood.

Gathering a variety of artworks of different age and time, Encounters exhibition is a pleasant-to-the-eye blend of modern day and contemporary art. It is on at the Art Heritage I Gallery at the Triveni Kala Sangam, Tansen Marg, near Bengali Market, till August 8. Entry is free. Time: 11 am to 7 pm.
