9,382 Comedk engg seats remain vacant

The admission process for undergraduate professional courses through the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (Comedk) drew to a close on Wednesday.

At the end of the counselling, as many as 9,382 engineering seats have remained vacant. While all the medical seats were taken by candidates in the first round of the counselling itself, the consortium held a second round for just engineering seats. Just over 700 seats were allotted in this round of the 10,171 seats on offer.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Examinations Authority has begun the counselling process for diploma CET, for diploma candidates seeking lateral entry into engineering courses. The KEA has thrown open the process of option entry and candidates will be allowed to enter their preferred seats online until 9 am on Thursday.

The seat allotment results will be announced on the same day after 6 pm. Candidates will have to confirm their seats and pay course fees before August 4. They have been directed to report to colleges before August 5, according to a press release from the KEA.
