A shift to mock meat

Vegan way

A rooftop organic restaurant located in Koramangala, ‘Paradigm Shift’ is a place where people can discuss and debate about their subject of choice while enjoying a wholesome healthy plate of vegan food. Sowmya, being a vegan and activist herself, started the cafe last year with the thought of blending activism and veganism.

“A paradigm shift could be the way we approach or look at food. We also encourage discussions on any topic. More than a change, we need a paradigm shift. This is why it makes sense to have an activist centre combined with a restaurant,” explains Sowmya.

The restaurant has a wide range of customers — from activists and vegans to vegetarians. ‘Penang tofu’, which is a rectangular piece of tofu, fried and topped with spicy peanut sauce, and the mock meat, a substitute for meat made of soy are some of the most popular items. Desserts like the freshly-baked cupcakes and ice creams are also the crowd-pullers.

The menu has Thai and Chinese cuisines and explores a range of salads, soups, sandwiches, noodles and desserts. The ambience is a world apart with the interiors done with hand-picked old items. One can see old tyres, tiles and wood being creatively used to make the tables. Another unique thing about this restaurant is that it is powered by solar energy. The restaurant is located at 8, Terrace Floor, 80 Feet Road, 4th Block, Near Sony World Signal, Koramangala.
