Suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Friday moved an application before a local court seeking direction to the police to register an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him over telephone.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Som Prabha Mishra called for a report from Hazratganj police station.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate deferred the matter for further hearing on August four. Amitabh Thakur had earlier presented the complaint to Inspector Hazratganj Vijay Pal Singh Yadav on July 11.

Amitabh Thakur had also presented his complaint to the police chief of Lucknow Rajesh Pandey on July 23 when the Hazratganj police failed to register the FIR.

The Inspector of Hazratganj intimated Amitabh Thakur through a letter a few days back that his complaint had been enquired into and had been found to be not true.

Calling this enquiry illegal, Amitabh Thakur presented the application before the Chief Judicial Magistrate for registration of FIR. Amitabh Thakur’s complaint said that Mulayam had phoned him on 10 July.
