Last Updated 10 August 2015, 20:08 IST

Introduction of monorail, extending Metro phase II to Bidadi, Hosakote, Devanahalli, Nelamangala and Somanahalli, reduction of penalty for house tax from 24 per cent to five per cent, concreting arterial and sub-arterial roads and curbing garbage mafia are among of a host of promises the Congress has made in its BBMP election manifesto released on Monday.

The manifesto, printed in five languages (Kannada, English, Urdu, Tamil and Telugu), was released by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president G Parameshwara. It promises to ake Bengaluru a model city. But the manifesto is silent on the controversial issue of restructuring the Bengaluru municipal area, which is the reason for the elections getting delayed by about four months. It was part of the party’s poll manifesto in 2013 Assembly elections.
