Indrani, Sanjeev planned murder over Skype

Last Updated 31 August 2015, 19:22 IST

In a startling disclosure, the Mumbai Police have established that media tycoon Peter Mukerjea's wife Indrani Mukerjea nee Bora and her second husband Sanjeev Khanna had used video-chat software Skype to plan the killing of Indrani's daughter Sheena Bora.

This is perhaps the first time in India that the use of Skype in a homicide has come to light.
“It has been found that the accused (Indrani and Sanjeev) had used Skype to hatch the conspiracy (to kill Sheena),” said the Khar police station in the remand application filed before the Bandra magistrate's court. Skype is a telecommunications application that specialises in providing video chat and voice calls from computers, tablets and mobile devices via the Internet to other devices or telephones/smartphones.

All details and data on mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, laptops and computers belonging to Indrani and Sanjeev will be examined to filter out the communication details in a bid to make a watertight case. One of the things the police need to examine is how long Indrani had been in touch with Sanjeev on a regular basis.

All call details are being examined in detail by a special team of police officers and professionals. They will also check the details on Skype and if needed seek the help of the service provider used to place the calls.
