A marketing manager with a massage parlour was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a posh apartment complex in HSR Layout on Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as Isha Handa, 26, a native of Thane in Maharashtra. “Mystery shrouds Isha’s death as she was not residing in Sobha Classic on Haralur Road, off Sarjapur Road, Eastwood Township. None in the apartment where the incident took place was known to her.

She was staying at an apartment on Old Airport Road and was sharing the flat with Poonam and Smriti, both from Uttar Pradesh. We are ascertaining the cause of her death,” said a senior police officer. The residents of Sobha Classic apartment could not even identify Isha.

The incident took place on late Sunday night, but it came to light only on Monday morning. “On the face of it, it looks like a suicide. Isha must have thrown herself off the 13th floor of Sobha Classic and died instantly due to massive head injuries. However, the police are probing the matter from all angles,” the officer added.

“It is not known why Isha had come to the apartment in HSR Layout as she did not have any friends there. It is also not known how she managed to gain entry inside the complex. The police have obtained CCTV footage and are questioning the security staff,” the officer said.

It is said Isha was suffering from an unknown ailment and was on medication. She probably killed herself as she could no longer cope with the medication, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner (South-East) Dr Rohini Katoch-Sepat said the police were yet to arrive at a conclusion. “The probe so far indicates she neither had a friend nor a relative in the apartment.

Nobody in the apartment could establish her identity. Though it could be a case of suicide, the police will probe further to ascertain the cause of Isha’s death,” she said. The body was handed over to her father, an insurance agent in Thane, after an autopsy. The police have registered a  case of unnatural death.
