Five people, including the driver and conductor of a BMTC bus, suffered minor injuries when the bus overturned and fell into a dry lake near Anekal on Monday.

The injured were treated as outpatients at a private hospital, said the police.

There were only five passengers in the bus, including the driver and the conductor. According to the police, the accident occurred at around 2 pm when the bus was heading towards Jigani from Anekal. The bus toppled when the driver was negotiating a turn near Tank Bund Road at Doddakere close to Anekal.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a power pole and fell into the dry lake. Local residents rushed to the spot and helped the injured passengers. The bus from the Jigani BMTC depot will be lifted on Tuesday after a survey.

The driver has been referred to a private hospital for further treatment of injuries on his right hand, the police said.
