<p>The Tamil Nadu Government on Friday announced that it would setup an Aerospace Park in the auto hub of Sriperumbudur in which 30 aerospace firms would set up units with a total investment of Rs 3,000 crore.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), which has been entrusted with that task of establishing the Aerospace Park, said that it is expected to provide job opportunities for 5,000 people, and would support the development of the aerospace industry, covering design, engineering, manufacturing, servicing and maintenance of aircraft in Tamil Nadu.<br /><br />Industries Minister P Thangamani, who is also in-charge of TIDCO, said the government has issued orders for allocating about 300 acres of land at Sriperumbudur.<br /><br /> According to him, the land was acquired by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) to develop an exclusive aerospace components’ manufacturing park project.<br /><br />“As per the orders of the government, SIPCOT has earmarked around 258 acres in the first phase to develop an aerospace park”, he added.<br /><br />The Minister said that due to continuous marketing efforts taken by TIDCO, 12 companies have been allotted land in the park till date. <br /><br />“Three more companies have submitted their applications for land allocation and 15 more companies have expressed their interest to set up their units in the park”, he added.<br />Thangamani said that <br /><br />TIDCO was eyeing 30 to 40 firms to set up its units in the park by the middle of next year.<br /><br /><br />Plan for a Park<br /><br />Thirty aerospace firms will set up units at an investment of Rs 3,000 cr<br />The Aerospace Park to provide job opportunities for 5,000 people<br />The Park will be set up on 300 acres of land at Sriperumbudur<br />Twelve firms have already been allotted land in the Park<br /><br /></p>
