Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru, organised ‘Utthaan 2015 — Little Feet, Big Strides’, an annual event, recently. An initiative by the Social Responsibility Committee (SRC) of the institute, the theme of the event was ‘The Jungle Book’.

Around 122 children from Sada Shreya Charitable Trust (Electronic City, Phase II), Makkala Jivo Daya (Madivala), Gasper, Anatha Shishu Nivasa (Bull Temple Road), Shanti Niketan and Belaku Shishu Nivasa took part in the different games organised for them.

The function started with a performance by ‘Jhankaar’, the dance club of SIBM Bengaluru, followed by a talent show featuring the kids.  The fun continued with a drawing competition with the children showcasing their artistic side. The volunteers played educational videos for the kids and made them aware of the traffic rules.

Games like twisters, memory flip and bucket sponge were played and the kids were ecstatic every time they won as they were given a special treat.

The event ended with a magic show, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. Post this, goodie bags and story books were distributed among them. Lakshmiah Botla, the faculty co-ordinator of SRC, said, “The event showcased how sharing little happiness with these children can bring a lot of happiness in our lives.” Pratik Pote, the student co-ordinator of SRC, said, “We are proud to be the reason behind the smile on their faces. ‘Utthaan’ is very close to my heart and I was delighted to organise it.”
