DHL Express is keen on starting a freight service to Mumbai due to the burgeoning demand from the Western region.

“A freight service to Mumbai is certainly on our wishlist. We are waiting for the right time and the right volumes before we get going,” DHL Express (India) Senior Vice President and Country Manager R S Subramanian told Deccan Herald.

“We are also in talks with the Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) for a dedicated airfreight facility and are in the queue,” Subramanian added. DHL Express already has dedicated airfreight facilities at a couple of airports in the country.

As far as the demand from the booming e-commerce segment is concerned, Subramanian said that the company is gearing up to handle it.

Meanwhile, following its association with football globally, DHL has now announced its association with the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) as the official logistics and timing partner.

Logistics partner
As the official logistics partner, DHL will deliver back-end logistics support for the Hero ISL 2015 season.

DHL also announced the ‘DHL Winning Pass’ award per team, which will recognise players who contributed the highest number of assists during the tournament, creating opportunities for their team to score goals.

DHL is already the global logistics partner for Manchester United of England, Bayern Munich of Germany, the Chinese Super League, Football Association of Ireland.
