Haute and happening
Actors and actresses from Sandalwood and Bollywood were the showstoppers on day 3 of Bangalore Fashion Week
The third day of the Bangalore Fashion Week was probably the most happening day of the lot. Studded with stars from Sandalwood and Bollywood, it had a lot to offer for any fashion-lover. Besides, both new and experienced designers showcased their collections on the ramp. The noon shows were kept for two new designers — Deepti Reddy, Neha Poddar. Babita Malkani showcased her collection in the evening while taking the stage at night were well-known designers Ramesh Dembla and Archana Kochhar. Most designers felt that the BFW was an ideal platform to showcase their collections.
Said designer Ramesh Dembla, “The BFW has just begun so it’s still a baby. But it’s definitely on the right path and I am proud to be doing it for Bangalore.” About his collection for the day, he said, “I have two collections in four sequences — first is men’s wear, second is gowns, third is sarees and the fourth sequence is just showstoppers.”
With Bollywood actress Zarine Khan walking the ramp for him, along with Sandalwood stars like Pooja Gandhi, Sanjana, Meghana, Aindrita Ray, Nidhi Subbaiah, Vishal Hegde, Vinay Rai, Tilak and Kiran Srinivas, he sure did have a star-studded sequence of showstoppers during the evening.
Kolkata-based designer Neha Poddar was extremely excited to showcase her collection Warrior Princess. She exclaimed, “My inspiration behind this collection is women, who strive for excellence in their daily lives.” She added, “In their everyday struggle, women have to be confident and come out as a warrior princess.” Using colours like black and purple in her collection, she described her collection as “masculine, yet feminine”.
Archana Kochhar’s collection was the highlight of the evening, with Bollywood actress Amrita Rao being the showstopper (so what if she arrived three hours late). “The inspiration behind my collection is India. I love Indian colours like turmeric yellow and green, which look so beautiful on Indian skin,” she said. About her showstopper Amrita, she noted, “She is really lovely. She was perfect for this collection and she is a dear friend.”
