JOIN USA student of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was assaulted by a youth on the institution’s campus on Wednesday night.
Around 9.30 pm, the student along with his classmate was walking on the campus to have dinner. The accused Raghavendra, son of an employee in the IISc director’s office, was driving his car rashly. He brushed past the victim and his friend. The victim asked him to slow down, but the accused came back and picked an argument with the victim and his friend. Raghavendra even picked up a stone to hit the victim.
Few students came to the victim’s rescue on hearing the commotion. The accused fled the spot only to come back with four more men. He attacked one of the students and the accused’s friends pacified Raghavendra. However, Raghavendra continued hurling abuses at students, who alerted the security. They approached the Sadashivanagar police and lodged a complaint. Raghavendra was arrested.
