"The government is contemplating a comprehensive forest policy to ensure preservation of state's green gold, besides checking deforestation and environmental degradation," Forests and Environment Minister Mian Altaf Ahmed said while addressing a public gathering at Jindera Dansal, about 35-km from here on Monday.
The minister said a conference would be convened to seek public opinion, particularly from environmentalists and people living near forests. Responding to demands for job opportunities in government departments for the Gujjar community, Ahmed said the community should gets its share under ST category.
