Fun facts before catching a flight at the airport

  A series of attractive installations that will give passengers a sneak peek into the lesser known facts about the life, culture and history of India, have been set up at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

The ‘I am India’ exhibits will showcase installations on Indian spices, literature, cricket and even one on the invention of zero. A plethora of India’s facets, which form an incredible kaleidoscope that is not only awe-inspiring but also compelling to passengers are on display, according to KIA’s official statement to Deccan Herald.

An installation tracing the origin and inspiration behind modern day board games has been set up. Amongst the most popular are “Chaturanga” and “Moksha Patam”. Now known simply as chess, Chaturanga’s origin dates back to 280-550 BC in Eastern India.

Whats more, there is also an installation exclusively on Karnataka, highlighting a number of its landmarks such as the statue of Gomateshwara in Shravanabelagola, the mausoleum of Gol Gumbaz in Vijayapura, Jog Falls and the city of Hampi. Another installation inspired by the some of the most influential Indian philosophers, literary figures and religious works, provides fun facts about the Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas.

A total of seven such exhibits have been set up. The exhibition will be on till the end of the month.

“As a country that offers a unique combination of facts, culture, attractions and achievements, this campaign is inspired by India’s multi-dimensional character that is reflected in life-size displays at various vantage points in the airport,” according to an official statement from the KIA.
