Quikr makes job listing a missed call away

The purpose of a business is to create a customer.

Quikr, a platform for cross category classifieds, is looking to make it easier for the non-tech savvy folk to find jobs. With the launch of its job-search portal, QuikrJobs, the company aims to bridge the gap between recruiters and jobseekers, especially those without access to internet.

While the platform itself is Net-based, individuals may enroll themselves on it using Quikr’s ‘missed call service’. The new service allows those individuals who are looking for a job but are not internet-literate to create visibility for themselves on the job portal.

“We noticed that a significant number of postings on our platform were for blue collar, grey collar, and entry-level white collar jobs,” said Pranay Chulet, founder & CEO, Quikr. The service is targeted at matching workforce that is skilled, but does not have visibility in the job market with appropriate jobs.

To make use of the ‘missed call service’, individuals can give a missed call to Quikr’s call centre, whose representative will call them back to gather details required for the post. Quikr will then enlist such clients on its portal.

In India, internet penetration is only at about 19 per cent. Mobile penetration, however, is at 76 per cent, making a service of this format highly relevant and appealing. For a long time, the low salary brackets have largely been ignored in the digital space. With digital industry gaining momentum, and internet penetration increasing, this can be changed, said Chulet. Today, hyperlocalisation in the eCommerce industry has created demand for blue collar workers. QuikrJobs becomes an immediate natural solution for their unique needs, he added.
