A grand festival

Disha 2015’, a two-day inter-collegiate cultural and literary fest  with the theme ‘Celebration of Life, La-Fiesta’, was held in Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College recently.

Around 35 colleges participated in the various on and off-stage events. Bharath, a composer and singer who was the guest of honour, enthralled the audience with his performance.

On the first day, students actively participated in events like ‘Big Fight’, ‘Extempore’, ‘Raaga’, ‘Bhava Thala’, ‘Poetry Writing’, ‘Short Film’, ‘Movie Making’, ‘Treasure Hunt’, ‘Mime’, ‘Product Launch’, ‘Flora Fiesta’ and ‘Lecture Contest’.

The main events on the second day like ‘Singing & Beat Boxing’, ‘Solo Dance’, ‘Group Dance’ and ‘Chameleon’ saw a lot of participation from the students.

The highlight of the day was the ‘Fashion Show’ which had the maximum participation. Kannada actress Kavya Shah was the chief guest for the fashion show, where the event’s sponsor ‘Kalanjali’ showcased its elegant outfits and saris as well.

Fusion band ‘Shadow’ also enthralled the crowd while all the visitors enjoyed an array of dishes at the various food stalls that were put up.

There were many accessory stalls too and the college was aesthetically decorated according to the theme and wore a festive look. Jain College CMS was declared as ‘Overall Champions’ by gaining maximum points in the two day fest.

Principal Esther Prasanakumar handed over the prize to the winning team and congratulated the Student Welfare Committee, Student Council and all the staff and students for making the fest a grand success.
