It was a dream come true for Bengaluru girl Mamtha when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday at the Bosch Vocational Centre (BVC). She was assigned to explain to the dignitaries about her team’s work. Her team comprises of three members —  Stephy, Kiran and Nikhil.

Mamtha told Deccan Herald that she was proud and it was all because of the blessings of God. Mamtha displayed the mechatronic robotic system, which is used in the assembly line for increasing production capacity.

After introducing herself, she started explaining about the electronic project that she was working on at the BVC. “This electronic system helps in the parts supply at the assembly line. It consists of electronic control systems, drive units and mechanical system. It can be used in multiple workstations as it works as robots to supply components,” she explained to the dignitaries with confidence.

She said the robots involved in the assembly line can assure components at the workstations as they issue their requirements according to their production needs.

“By working at the BVC, I have gained immense practical and industrial experience in robotics and electromechanics. I have also received enormous help from my teammates,” she told the dignitaries.

The girl’s father Narayana Swamy is a farmer and mother, a housewife. “My sister is an engineer,” she said with pride.

Mamtha said she was always interested in gaining technical skills. “As a school kid, I used to perform very well in science. After Class 10, I joined this three-year apprenticeship programme in electronics. I was on the bench initially. After one month, we started our training at the workstation and I enjoyed learning at the BVC. Only after the course, did I come to know about the mechanical, electronics, electricals, robotics and programmable logic controller (PLCs) fronts,” said Mamtha.

She aims to become an engineer. “As soon as I reach home, I will tell my parents that I met PM Modi and German Chancellor Merkel,” she said with all smiles.  When asked about Merkel’s interaction with her, she said, “The German Chancellor asked me about the exposure that I got from this training. She also enquired about my parents’ response when I decided to join the course, and also about the cooperation that I receive from teammates.”
