Delhi Police claimed to have solved a broad daylight robbery case, involving Rs 65 lakh cash belonging to a private company, with the arrest of seven people, including an employee. Four of the accused are students of Delhi University.

The robbery took place Monday at Ashok Vihar in north-west Delhi and Rs 64.5 lakh cash, along with three motorcycles, have been recovered, police said.

The accused have been identified as Dinesh (employee), Sachin, Nukul, Deepak, Bunty, Vinod, and Dev. The eighth member of the gang, Vasu, is absconding.

According to a complaint filed by Raj Kumar Kannojia, the robbery took place when he, along with his colleague Dinesh, was on his way to his office at Karol Bagh after collecting Rs 65 lakh on the direction of their employer.

When they crossed the Ashok Vihar underpass railway track, three bike-borne assailants intercepted them, snatched the bag containing the cash on gunpoint and fled.

Following the complaint, police teams interrogated all the employees of ULX Technologies Pvt Ltd.

“The list of employees was scanned and on the basis of interrogation, some of the suspects were zeroed down. It came out that one of the employees who had left the job about a year ago had joined the company again 15 days ago. Interestingly, it was also found that the employee was none other than the employee who had gone to collect the cash,” police said.

Upon interrogation, it was known that Dinesh along with his friends hatched the conspiracy.

Dinesh said the robbery was planned a few days before when he disclosed to his friends that he used to collect a “heavy amount” when he was working with the company a year ago.

“They instantly decided to earn some money in a single attempt, which they couldn’t earn their whole life. Dinesh’s family was in heavy debt and he readily agreed. After efforts through his old contacts in his previous company he got his job again,” a police officer said.

They planned the dacoity when Dinesh would go to collect cash and got the opportunity Monday.
