Bike-borne men divert attention, make away with Rs 15 lakh

Two men snatched a bag containing Rs 15 lakh from a senior citizen, by diverting his attention in Girinagar on Wednesday.

According to police, Balaiah Chaudhari, 70, a civil contractor and a resident of KR Layout near JP Nagar, had withdrawn the cash from State Bank of Mysore in Girinagar, and was heading towards his house by his car. He had wrapped the currency bundles in a cover and put them in a bag. Two men who followed Chaudhari on a two-wheeler, stopped his car and told Chaudhari that his car wheel had got punctured. He stopped his car near a service station and the two men continued to tail him.

Chaudhari got down from his car holding the bag containing cash in his hand. Soon, the pillion rider got down from the bike, snatched the bag and the two vanished from the spot.
Chaudhari raised an alarm, but none came to his rescue, though many people witnessed the incident. The movement of the two persons have been captured in  the CCTV cameras installed at the spot. The police have shared the footage with all police stations in the City and have formed a team to arrest the two, said the police.
