<p>With Invest Karnataka-2016 drawing close, the State government has initiated the implementation of the proposed Devanahalli Business Park (DBP) project near the Kempe Gowda International Airport (KIA).<br /><br />The Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC), which is the nodal agency for implementing the project, recently shortlisted two companies to be appointed as project consultant. <br /><br />Government nod is awaited to fix a consultant, which will draw up a detailed plan to develop 413.65 acres of land near the airport.<br /><br />“We will speed up the project implementation, which will be done on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The consultant will help the government to go through the PPP process. We want the DBP to cater to multiple sectors,” said Naveen Raj Singh, KSIIDC Managing Director.<br /><br />The project site for DBP is located along National Highway-7 on the northern boundary of KIA, about 35 km from Bengaluru. Conceived in 2008, the project is expected to be completed in two years. Though a preliminary study was done in 2008, the subsequent governments did not show much interest in its implementation.<br /><br />The plan is to have IT & ITeS parks/SEZs on a 50-acre plot and another 35 acres will be earmarked for a central business district under DBP. Besides, facilities such as three multi-speciality hospitals, a finance district, retail and entertainment, office complex and aviation academy will also be developed. The Siddaramaiah government is said to be planning to showcase the DBP as one of its key projects at Invest Karnataka-2016 scheduled to be held between February 3 and 5. <br /><br />Detailed concept plan<br /><br />Singh said besides preparing a detailed concept plan, the consultant will assist the government in identifying a private partner. An International Convention Centre (ICC), at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore, will also be part of the DBP. <br /><br />The KSIIDC has already initiated steps to implement the ICC on 30 acres under PPP, he added.<br /><br />This apart, the government has recently invited a Request For Qualification (RFQ) to implement the ICC under Design, Finance, Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer (DFBOMT) basis. <br /><br />The KSIIDC has already prepared a concept plan to develop a state-of-the-art ICC comprising a convention hall with 6,000 seating capacity, an exhibition hall, food court and related infrastructure. </p>.<p>The Grand Plan </p>.<p>KSIIDC to appoint a consultant soon.<br />Government planning to showcase DBP as one of its key projects at Invest Karnataka-2016.
