Davanagere Vachana Sahitya Mattu Samskrithika Parishat district unit convener Dr S T Shantagangadhara said no mutt in the state  follows the righteousness preached by Vachanas and they are serving as Swiss banks in the present context.

He was speaking at the  fourth Akhila Bharatha Kannada Vachana literature and cultural conference at Kalamandir in the town on Sunday.

All mutts are showing interest in the establishment of engineering, medical colleges and community Halls. The heads of these mutts travel in luxurious cars worth Rs 70 lakh, he said.

He said there will not be a trace of corruption at the places where the moral teachings, given by Vachanas, are followed. Vachana Dharma is the biggest asset ever
and one needs righteousness to be powerful.

The sole purpose of Vachanas will be fulfilled only when people follow the
path of Basavanna and Madiwala Machaiah, he said.

Gaddihalli Basavaraju of Adoni in Andhra Pradesh said the essence of Vachana
literature should be compiled and translated into different foreign languages.

Basavanna’s teachings should be made popular in other countries, he said.

Radhakrishna K Uliyattadka of Kasargod said  Vachana literature has solutions to all problems.

They are written in a way and all can follow them easily. The Vachanas are more
relevant today, he observed.

Social worker K Kenchanagowda was conferred with ‘Bharata Jyothi’ national award on the occasion. Conference president Dr J P Krishnegowda, district Vachana Sahitya Mattu
Samskrithika Parishat President Vani Chandraiah Naidu, trust president Timmappa and others were present.
