Brace for cold and wet weather in next 24 hours

The City experienced foggy and cloudy weather on Sunday.  As the maximum temperatures in the City dropped by six degree Celsius, than the normal, people were seen wrapped in woollen wear and rain coats all through the day.

Roads and most commercial establishments wore a deserted look as many people preferred to stay indoors to beat the chill.

The City recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 20.9 and 18.7 degree Celsius respectively while the HAL airport experienced maximum and minimum temperatures of 20.4 and 18.2 degree Celsius respectively. Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) registered a maximum and minimum of 21 and 18 degree Celsius respectively.

The City recorded 5.8mm of rain (till 5:30pm), while HAL airport experienced 5.4 mm and KIAL 5.2mm.

As per Indian Meterological Department, the City has recorded 221.2mm rainfall for the month of November (till Nov 14) as against the normal monthly average of 57.2 mm for November.

 In November, the City has received 47 mm of rain more than that recorded in October, which is supposed to the wettest month of the year in the City.    

The rainfall witnessed in November is highest in the past 10 years. In 2010, the City had recorded 145.3 mm of rain, during the corresponding period in 2013 the City received 143.7 mm of rain while it was 125 mm in 2012. The highest rainfall ever the City had experienced in November was 252.2 mm in 1916.

The City has experienced 95.3 mm of rain on November 3, this year. This was the highest rainfall received in 24 hours this November 

The highest ever rain recorded in 24 hours in November was 114.5 mm on November 9, 1916. On November 24, 2013, the City had received 108.4 mm,  the highest in the last ten years.

According to Meteorological department forecast, the City will witness cloudy sky, dip in temperatures and rainfall for the next 24 hours.

This is due to the presence of a low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka. It is likely to move north westwards towards Tamil Nadu coast and translate into a depression over the next 24 hours.
