India’s flagship coffee summit, ‘India International Coffee Festival’ (IICF), organised by India Coffee Trust and supported by the Coffee Board of India, is scheduled to be held at Mumbai from January 19 to 23.

The primary focus of the event is to create a gateway to India’s unsaturated market for Indian and international stakeholders. The biennial festival will be held at The Lalit, Mumbai. At the curtain raiser held in the City, Kaushik Mukherjee, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, announced this year’s theme — ‘Celebrating with Coffee’.

IICF 2016 is crafted to provide a glimpse into the current coffee developments and emerging opportunities and will connect the entire coffee industry through a series of educative, business, networking and festive events. The five-day festival will comprise International Conference Exhibition for all things coffee, skill-building workshops, product launches, coffee quiz, coffee awards and a host of other exciting activities. It will also provide a platform for coffee growers, roasters, retailers, equipment suppliers, researchers and entrepreneurs.

Visitors will get to enjoy coffee tastings, hands-on workshops, demonstrations from world-class baristas, a preview of the latest products and more.

This year, the event is expected to bring 500 delegates for the conference and skill building workshops. The Executive Director, International Coffee Organisation, Mr Robério Silva is also expected to be present at the festival.

The Coffee Board will recognise and reward the best roasters, curers, exporters as well as finest coffees. Barista Championship awards will also be presented at the ceremony. IICF 2016 will also see the India premiere of the globally acclaimed film, ‘Caffeinated’.

The makers of this documentary — Hanh Nguyen and Vishal Solanki — are also expected to be a part of the premiere for an interactive talk with the audience. It will also organise a Café Crawl in Mumbai during the event, where coffee aficionados will be taken through some of the best coffee spots in the city.
