Trains to M'luru: HC warns to summon SWR GM

Last Updated 16 November 2015, 20:39 IST

The High Court on Monday observed that if the Railways did not reply to the court on time, the court will be compelled to summon the General Manager of the South Western Railway.

The court was hearing a PIL by Railway Yatri Sangha questioning the delay in introducing additional trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru and vice-versa.

During the hearing, when the counsel representing the Railways sought more time to get instructions, a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice B V Nagarathna asked the counsel to be prepared with instructions in the next hearing. The petitioners have contended that though new trains were announced in the previous year’s Railway budget, it was not implemented.
