Mukerji knew about Sheena's murder: CBI

Murder most foul: Media tycoon remanded in agency custody till Nov 23

Peter Mukerjea took active part in the conspiracy to eliminate Sheena Bora along with his wife Indrani Mukerjea and the couple was in constant touch with each other, according to the CBI.

The probe agency has secured the media tycoon’s custodial remand till Monday.

Besides, the former Star India CEO and co-founder of INX Media Pvt Ltd, also allegedly  suppressed vital information from the Mumbai Police and CBI and was also accused of destroying evidence.

Sheena Bora, the daughter of Indrani with her former live-in partner Siddhartha Das, was strangulated to death on April 24, 2012 in Mumbai.

Her body was dumped in a wooded area in Pen taluka of Raigad district.    Sheena, then 23, was in a relationship with Mukerjea’s younger son Rahul Mukerjea.

On Friday, Mukerjea (58) who was arrested by the CBI for the murder of his step-daughter, was remanded to CBI custody till November 23 by a magistrate’s court in Mumbai.

The CBI produced him before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate R V Adone, who sent him to four-day remand.

Meanwhile, Indrani (43) her first husband Sanjeev Khanna (50), who hails from Kolkata and driver Shyamvar Rai (43), were produced before the court, which extended their judicial remand till December 3.

1,000-page charge sheet
On Thursday, the CBI filed a 1,000-page charge sheet accusing them of murdering Sheena and planning to kill her brother Mikhail.

“The case is committed to CBI court and jail officials are directed to produce them before the sessions court,” Adone said in her order.

“Peter Mukerjea was in continuous conversation with Indrani prior, during and after the gruesome murder of Sheena Bora,” Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh said while arguing for custodial interrogation of Mukerjea for 14 days.
