Gionee's M5 claims longest battery life

Chinese devices major Gionee has embarked on a new journey in mobile phone design and features, this time focusing on the crucial element of a long-lasting battery.

The company launched the Gionee Marathon M5 on Tuesday, claimed to be the handset with the longest battery life. Powered by a 6020 mAh Li-Po battery, the M5 has a standby time of up to 684 hours, and a 62-hour phone call time. The phone has dual charging chips which ensure better heat dissipation and fast charging.

The device is in-built with a smart power consumption system system, especially under extreme mode; it can provide a standby time of 32 hours even if there is only five per cent of power remaining. Besides, the phone is capable of reverse charging, which means it can be used as a powerbank to charge spare cell phones at the same time. Gionee India Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Arvind R Vohra said, “Customers could now hear up to 1,400 songs with the headset on, and up to 1,090 songs with the speaker on. The device has an ultra-slim structure and dimensions 8.5 mm thick and outer rim of 4.7 mm.”

The phone contains a 5.5-inch HD AMOLED display, and is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad Core 64 bit processor for faster processing. The 4G LTE-enabled M5 supports dual 4G SIMs, CDMA along with USB-OTG connectivity.

Gionee’s latest Marathon device, the M5, is priced at Rs 17,999, and available in three colour options — white, black, and gold. The company has also tied up with eCommerce major Flipkart for exclusive availability of the product. It houses a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a front-facing 5 MP camera. It runs on the advanced Amigo 3.1, based on Android 5.1. It is equipped with features like Amiclone, smart gestures, and a smart remote for any TV at home. It comes with a 32 GB memory, expandable to 128 GB, and is powered by a 3 GB RAM.
