Will take up intolerance issue in House, says Rahul

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the issue of rising intolerance in the country would be taken up by the party in the upcoming Parliament session.

He was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of his interaction with students at Mount Carmel College here on Wednesday. “I had quite a good conversation and I am impressed with the institution and its students,” he said.

Stating that India always stressed on bringing people together and not hating any body, Rahul quipped: “The prime minister’s silence is troubling. The BJP and RSS ideologies are focused towards creating rift between one Indian and another. This will create problem (for the country),” he said. 

As for the issue of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, he said the opposition wanted it to be implemented but they had “three differences” with the BJP on the issue and they want to discuss them.

A lot of his talk on Wednesday revolved around the atmosphere of intolerance in the country. Addressing the students, he said shouting at people was easy but it was much more powerful to listen to someone.
